ABOUT US

Girls School Africa is a UK-registered charity, set up specifically to help girls and young women who have dropped out of school due to poverty. Many of them are trading on the street, earning less than a dollar a day for their families. In the evening city rush-hour you see them darting between the lanes of traffic selling items such as chewing gum and snacks to people in cars. In the rural areas they are married early and never get the chance to complete their education.

Girls School Africa was set up in January 2007. So far the Charity has received donations enabling 10 girls to go to senior secondary school from this October and 8 to go on to vocational training.

Our aim is to make sure that the money donated goes to the education of the girls and not to administrative fees. Girls are selected on the basis of poverty and ability to benefit from the education and training offered.
